Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

Wick & Wax is operated by Semy WEB GbR, Zaunkönigstraße 7, 82140 Olching, Germany. The company is the controller for personal data processed through the Wick & Wax website and support contacts. For privacy questions or requests, email support@vemlee.com.

2. Information you keep in Wick & Wax

The journal can contain the workshop name you enter; wax and fragrance compositions; percentages and weights; additives such as stearin and dyes; container and wick details; process temperatures; recipe versions and notes; wick-test measurements and observations; production dates, materials, quantities, costs and selling prices; and your display preferences.

In a browser version, journal records are stored in that browser on your device. In the Android app, they are stored in the app on your phone. Journal records are not sent to the Wick & Wax website or stored on its server.

We use these records only to provide the calculator, recipe journal, laboratory and production functions you choose to use. We do not use them for advertising or analytics.

3. Website hosting and server location

The Wick & Wax website is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH on a server located in Germany. When a browser requests a page, the hosting infrastructure processes technical connection data such as the IP address, request date and time, requested page, browser and device information, and response status. This is needed to deliver the site, diagnose errors and protect it from misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website available and secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Technical access and security logs are retained only for as long as needed for website operation, troubleshooting and security, then removed according to the server's log-rotation settings. These logs do not contain your candle journal. Hetzner provides hosting infrastructure; it does not receive the recipes, test notes or batch records kept locally in the app.

4. Local fonts, cookies and analytics

The Manrope and Space Grotesk font files used by the app are included with the application and served locally. The website and app do not request font files from Google Fonts. Wick & Wax does not currently use third-party advertising or analytics tools, and this site does not set tracking cookies.

5. Links to Google Play and other websites

If you open a Google Play link, your device connects directly to Google. Google may process connection information under its own privacy terms. Other websites linked from Wick & Wax operate independently; their privacy notices apply when you visit them. Wick & Wax does not receive data about what you do on those services.

6. Storage, backups and deletion

Journal data remains in the browser or app storage on your device until that storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. In a browser, use the browser’s site-data controls for Wick & Wax to remove the local journal. On Android, clear Wick & Wax app storage in your device settings to remove the journal from that phone.

If you export a JSON archive, the exported file is saved and controlled by you. It is not uploaded to Wick & Wax. Delete that file separately if you no longer need it. Keep a backup before clearing local storage if you want to retain your records.

7. Contact messages and retention

If you email us, we receive the address and message you choose to send, and use them to reply and handle your request. Depending on your message, we process it to take steps you request before a contract or to pursue our legitimate interest in responding to product and support enquiries. We keep correspondence only while it is needed to handle the request, meet applicable record-keeping duties or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Please do not email passwords, sign-in links or verification codes.

8. Your data protection rights

Under the GDPR, you may ask for access to personal data about you, correction or erasure, restriction of processing, and—where the legal conditions are met—data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the authority where you live or work or where you believe an infringement occurred. The Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA) provides a complaint route for Bavaria. Contact support@vemlee.com to make a request.

Because journal records currently remain on your device and are not sent to our server, you can remove those records directly by clearing local app or browser storage. We cannot recover a journal after local storage has been deleted unless you have an exported backup.

9. Security and changes

We limit server-side processing to website delivery, technical logs and support correspondence. Do not include sensitive personal information in recipe names or notes. This policy will be updated if Wick & Wax introduces accounts, synchronization or other data processing that changes these practices.
